So here's the thing. Instead of buying your next cruising guide, try
ActiveCaptain for free. And if you get data from it, add reviews for
the marinas and anchorages that you stay at.
Take the money you save and get better internet connectivity on your
boat. Use an aircard and you'll have a continuous internet connection
throughout the Hudson River as well as the other rivers and coastlines
in the US. You'll get much better use out of that than having a shiny
new guidebook. You'll have your email, weather, and the entire
internet at your fingertips, even while moving through the water.
The internet has the ability to shift the power of purchasing to the
consumer. But you have to use the tools in order for it to work.
Consider that as you start your cruising over this new season...
