Do you know the bridge clearance needed for your new boat?   
Bridge Clearance on the Erie Canal is 20ft, (possibly 21 feet depending on  
water level) from Albany to Oswego where it connects to Lake  Ontario.   
>From Oswego to Buffalo the clearance is only 15.5 feet.
The Champlain Canal has a limitation of 17 feet.
