Today, September 8, 2008, OUR TURN and her crew crossed our wake at Green
Turtle Bay on the Cumberland River in KY at 1237 hours. We were accompanied
by TWINS and EAGLE'S NEST as we crossed the breakwater at GTB. As we
watched the lock door close on Barkley lock ( the last lock on the loop for
us) it seemed quite poetic that the door behind us was closing on one
chapter of our life and the door in front was opening to the next. This has
been a time for laughter and tears, joy and frustration, but mostly joy.
We've grown and aged both on this trip but all in a very comfortable way.
Fortunately we are blessed to have been able to do the Great Loop, complete
it and along the way make many new friendships, renew a few old ones and
embellish those we've always enjoyed. Thank you to all of you for providing
moral support, wisdom, cheer ( both the emotional and spirit kinds),
mechanical knowledge, food for the stomach and the soul and safe harbors for
the weary. We will be permanently moored in Kentucky Dam State Park and
Marina on Kentucky Lake beginning Wednesday.
