GL: Cape May to Sandy Hook

Hello Jerry,
Hiding in Red Bank, NJ from Hanna and planning to go south. Currently the
sea state is undesirable... duh! Two day trip for our slow trawler (7.5
knts). Fast boats can make it in one day. Inside from Atlantic City to
Manasquan, NJ is very shallow, narrow channels and with frequent and
changing shoals. I did it at low tide in July and made it. However, I draw
only 2'10" and was able to see many of the shoals that are prone to build
inside the markers. There is no inside passage from Manasquan to Sandy
Hook, hence sea state is to be planned for. Be very aware of ebb tides
against the winds at the NJ inlets. They can become unsafe (large breaking
seas) under those conditions. Spring weather is changeable so good real
time weather input is needed.
Stay safe,
joe

Planning a trip from Cape May to Sandy Hook in March/April 2009. Does anyone
have experience with the off shore seas at that time of year?
