Boat US reports:
The projected path of Hurricane Hanna indicates she'll be impacting
the east coast from Georgia to Maine in the next few days. Landfall
is expected early Saturday morning in the Carolinas with Hanna
"hugging the coast" moving north Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
For Loopers in the Hudson River area, I suggest that the best
anchorage to wait out a hurricane is the small bay just north of
Croton Point in the Tappan Zee/Haverstraw Bay area of the river. The
water is about 8 feet deep with a hard sand bottom offering very good
holding. The anchorage is sheltered from winds from the east and
south and offers partial shelter from west winds. Most important, it
is a short distance from the Croton town dock so you can watch the
winds from ashore.
