Tom,
You might as well take your mast down at LBL and plan to wait til Chicago to
put it back up.
It is up hill most of the way. (downstream on the Ohio R.)
You should have enough fuel to go from LBL to Hoppie's on the Mississippi R.
; then from There to Grafton, IL at the mouth of the Illinois R.
I would not want to go upstream in the Spring when the currents are
stronger. Draft will not be a problem if you stay in the channell, but watch
out for wing dams on the Mississippi R.
Take the CalSag route (clearance 19 feet) south of Chicago unless you can
get under the low bridges in Chicago.
You will probably need to plan your overnight stops very carefully to find
anchorages on the Mississippi & Illinois Rivers.
