The problem with Charleston is there are almost too many marinas to choose  
from!
The more popular ones are:
1. Charleston City Marina which also includes Ashley Marina.   Undoubtedly 
the best marina in Charleston.
2. Stono Marina which also includes Buzzards Roost Marina.   A  little way 
out of Charleston but is the best choice to leave your boat.  On  the Stono 
River.
3.  Charleston Maritime Center within walking distance of the old  market is 
too exposed to waves from the harbor and has fixed wooden docks.
4.  Charleston Harbor Marina is actually in Mount Pleasant on the  opposite 
side of the Cooper River.  The marina extends out into the  open water of 
Charleston Harbor and is exposed to wind in the  harbor.    
5.  Ross Marine.  This is the place if you need work done while  you leave 
your boat.
6.  Isle of Palms and Tolers Cove marinas are a little way out but  complete 
the list.
