Last nite, we did an overnite transiet dock at the new Pahokee Marina, just
to see what they have done to the newly reopened marina.
I was real impressed with the docks, all new floaing, the electirc and water
hookups, pump outs on each dock finger, real impressive pool, and nice new
hurricane proof buildings.
Now the bad news.
The town is scarry. I wold not leave the marina, or even the boat at nite.
The marina had 5 boats in 100 plus slip marina.
that evening the marina got so rough, we left early.
Even though they have built 10 ft concrete walls around the marina for wave
protection, the waves still get in and bounce back and forth against the
walls. UNbearable.
And with those tall walls all around the marina, you feel like your in
boaters prison, you have NO views of the lake, even though it is on three sides.
the laudry room is quite a hike away. All the buldings are aall empty, there
are NO services available
I wold not shop in town at the grocery store. .
It is sad, in a day when marina'a are going away,, a small town like Pahokee
builds a multi million dollar
marina, a gem, in a really really terrible location. With a location off the
beaten path, in a town as scarry as pahokee, they won't have much of a
chance.
FWIW
See you on the Waterways!
