Ed's right - in any "snow" area you have to cover the boat, typically with
shrinkwrap, if it will be stored outside.  Because of the size of our
trawlers, many of them are stored outside.

Besides the reasons that Ed mentioned, another major reason for covering a
boat is that a large amount of snow/ice build-up will weigh a significant
amount.  The extra weight will often be lopsided and can cause stability
issues of the boat on the stands.  If the boat is properly shrinkwrapped, no
snow or ice will stick - it just slides off.

Sadly, my boat is coming out of the water today and awaiting her
shrinkwrapping...
