GL: rust on stainless steel

Hello again,

My second question has to do with rust on chrome plating and/or on polished
stainless steel.  I have only surface rust and none of it has yet penetrated
the finish, but it does not look good.  Does anyone have any experience in how
best to remove this surface rust? Also, after the rust is removed, what can be
applied to those surfaces to keep them rust-free?
