After 3 years of cruising we have changed locations with direct TV at least
12 times . Our cruise plan has been from Texas to Mobile to Knoxville, TN
up the Mississippi & Illinois Rivers to Lake Michigan (Chicago & now Grand
Haven). When we need to change I merely call DirecTV and change my "service
address". Note, the service address is the key. They will ask for the new
address including county. (I get the county by googling the zip code). After
a few seconds we usually have local service. The one potential problem is
that some DirecTV areas require 2 separate antenna azimuths. One for local
channels and one for national (i.e. CNBC,FNN,CNN etc.). Check out this site
for the DirecTV local channel antenna requirements

Hope this helps.
