Can't help you on this specific item on e-bay -- but I
have purchased / sold on e-bay for the last 10 years and have not had a
problem.  Normally when you purchase a new item on e-bay, you can find the
same item online at an Internet store, so I would suggest to do some Google
searches before you purchase via e-bay.  Also, check the sellers feedback --
it should be very close to perfect and in the 99% range for positive feedback.
 
I've had great luck via e-bay.
