Unfortunately no one that I know of makes a chart kit any more for that
area. There is an old Texas book that you can still find every once in a
while that is called the "Texas Golden Waterways" that has been out of print
since about 1980, but a few years ago I bought one at Baker-Lyman in
Houston. (on 45 at about exit 38, west side of the freeway). Maptec (or
whoever it was back then) made a "Region 17" kit that was Brownsville to NO.
My copy is from 1988. It's also been out of print for years. I found mine
very used in a resale shop in Kemah. Then there is a series that few
recreational boaters seem to know about that is printed, and up to date
(yearly I think) for tow boat drivers named "Barway Pilots Guide" That is
very good for the intercoastal, but shows no side trips that the tows don't
take. They have a book that covers exactly what you want, Houston to NO. I
think it sells for about $90, but tells details that are very handy about
crowded areas, bridges, locks, etc. (It even has notes like "look out for
drunk PWC drivers in this area") www.barway.com I have all three on the boat
now, but I'm out cruising that area.
Otherwise, Baker-Lyman probably has all the individual charts, although it
might be pricey.
Contact me offlist if you don't find something to buy. I might be able to
help if you can wait a couple of weeks till I get back to the Clear Lake
area.
