We are planning a 6 week cruise of Lake Superior
Off list we are emailing you links and pictures....
Contrary to Davids opinion we find from the Keewenaw East that June and
July are the better months on Lake Superior...of course there are always
days to just stay in port in any month! We do a lot of trips and
rarely have to rechedule in June! August seems to be the roughest month
and on the 20th it is like someone turns a switch and summer is over.
That said its nice to have the fresh air and you can always stay warm in
your yacht. Lots of deep water also rocks several feet from the surface
in places so watch your chart/map.
You definitely have to visit Pictures Rocks (early morning and late
evening is best) - put the kayaks in on a calm day. Stop by Marquette
and enjoy a great downtown within walking distance of the marina. Great
fireworks on July 4th....incredible show with the fireworks inside the
not in use ore dock in the lower harbor absolutely awesome. Starting
July 9th Lake Superior Theatre (a few steps from the marina on the water
in a boat house filled with marine artifacts) sails into its tenths
anniversary season with the return of its signature musical /Beacon On
The Rock - /lakesuperiortheatre.com.
Big Bay and the Huron Islands are on your route west and Isle Royal is
is not to be missed...spending a night anchored in Chippewa Harbor and
waking up to the loons and and moose swimming across your bow is a once
in a lifetime experience. Pelican is near the Cinder Pond marina and
we are almost always available for more info and to take you on a run
for provisions.

Adventures but none more beautiful than Lake Superior
