GL: AIR CARDS

Is there a consensus on the best air card service/cost.  ATT vs  Verizon?   
I'm heading north from the Keys to Green Bay, WI via the  Erie Canal.  Last 
fall, on the trip down, local wireless was hit or  miss. 
Excuse me if this subject has been worked over for months but I have  not  
Great Loop site for months and I couldn't find it in the  archives.
