Tom - I agree with Greg on all points. Do not be intimidated by NY
harbor, just be alert to what is behind you coming up as well as what is
ahead. You can also optimize your travel up the Hudson by timing the
tides - it has an effect all the way to Troy, after which there is no
tide.
