Hitting Georgian Bay in third week of July is ideal. We left Ottawa
June 27 and spent three week doing the Rideau and the TS . We left
Mackinac Is Aug 18. This schedule seems to let you hit all the areas
during the best times. By the end on August the periodic storms will
begin and Lake Michigan travel requires some planning. We hit Chicago
mid September. Those that stayed later ran into troublesome winds and
waves.

Your timing seems right. Consider doing the Champlain route and the
Rideau. It is all wonderful and work seeing. Wee seem to have good
luck hitting the good weather. Local boat traffic in the canals are
not bad. The gas prices in Canada is keeping the local traffic down.
On the TS I would focus on the area between Peterborough and Fenelon
Falls. Some of the other stretches do not offer as much to see and are
really mostly areas to transit.

On the Rideau The best areas are from Smiths Falls through the Big
Rideau lake. Don't miss the side trip to Perth, even by dingy if like
us we could not get the big boat there. Perth is the nicest town in
the region.
