CC Rider,
The B & B left Oswego, NY in late May of 2005, went up the Rideau, then back
down and we were in Trenton in late June. We spent a month in the
Trent/Severn system and still felt like we had not seen it all, but the
crowds really started toward the end of July, so we popped out at Port
Severn before the end of July. This schedule allows you time to get back to
NY before September 1st and still explore the small craft channel up to
the Bustards. If our boat doesn't sell, we plan a similar trip in the
spring of 2009. We found the Rideau's charms irresistible: we will go back
there first. The Trent Severn got pretty crowded toward the middle to end
of July, (look out for those rented houseboats near Bobcaygeon) but we
always found a place to tie up or anchor out and loved exploring all those
small towns along the canal. We certainly didn't "see everything," but we
saw enough for us.
