GL: Trent-Severn Waterway and the Northern Route to Chicago

For those of us going on to do the Georgian bay and the northern route then
down to Chicago by Labor Day I wonder just how much time will be available in
the T/S. We are committed to be in NC most of April for maintenance and a trip
to California but hope to be at mile 0 in VA on May first. Then I'd hoped to
spend three or four weeks in the Chesapeake before starting north. That would
leave me only four weeks or so to get from say Rock Hall through the T/S and
into Georgian Bay before July fourth. We will only have this one summer to do
this and will not make it back so I need to have a loose plan on dates to be
where even though I know we should not schedule. We enjoy a little sightseeing
of large cities however we know we can always do that by car. The object of
the loop is to see the sights and have the experiences you cannot get by
driving so we prefer to spend less time in large cities and more time in small
villages and quiet anchorages. Hopefully.

Having done almost one third of the loop (Mobile to Georgetown SC) since
January 14th we know it's tough to choose where to spend your time and that
you pretty much have to keep moving. We feel we've done it pretty right so far
for the time allowed but I'm less knowledgeable about what lies ahead. Any
suggestions as to some target dates and places May through August would be
appreciated.
