AMEN to FRED!
IF there is anyone who can give advice about the inland rivers, it is Fred Myers, so LISTEN UP GUYS! I heard Bob Williamson's tale of 'midnight woe' having to haul-anchor in th emiddle of the night in David Lake. I heard first hand when the Williamsons stop here in Fairhhope. I had already warned Bob NOT to go into that other little 'lake' across from the Alabama River...Fred had stopped suggesting it as an anchorage in his latest book. Name begins with a 'B' I seem to recall. I HAD suggested to Bob that they anchor just barely up the Alabama River instead. I am not sure about the commercial traffic on the Alabama now but it had nearly stopped due to the drought upriver last summer. In any case, there is room, if you use bow and stern anchors, to get out of the way of barges plying the river.
What is everyone going to DO without Fred's valuable information?
