GL: $150 - $200 monitor

I have a Xerox XL776s 17" 250 cd/m2 that came with the boat. It is 12 volt.
It came with the standard 110 volt wall plug. Wires go to the small black
box and come out 12 volt DC and off to a small bullet shape plug that goes
into the monitor. Like most electronic equipment.
An inline 5 Amp fuse on the hot side and wired to the boat's electrical and
we're good to go.
When you get to the 2000+ nit brightness values, you move into the marinized
$1,200 range as in:

hp
Check for three things when you buy a standard computer monitor:
1. Try to get one that doesn't have vents on the top (back). Have a large
zip lock bag available to slip over it during inclement weather.
2. Get one with the highest "brightness" rating (I have a 250 cd/m2 and
Elliot has a 300 cd/m2 therefore, Elliot's will be more readable in the sun.
3. Get one with a 12 volt input that way you can wire it into the boat's
electrical and not have to run it through an inverter (4 amps x 110 volts =
440 watts).
There are sun glare filters that you can set on top of the screen during
those times when you need them.
Hope this helps.

I bought a relatively standard Samsung PC 17" LCD monitor at Circuit City
that is the display for my Nobeltec system back in 2004. It is mounted on
the fly-bridge. It probably has 1,200-1,500 hours on it. Anything with
300cd/m2 or more should do, the higher the better. You certainly don't have
to get the $1,000 jobbies.
Brent, I am familiar with Albin 43s and if your upper heln is enclosed you
would have no problem seeing the display in 95% of the conditions. I got one
of the rool-down sun screens for facing morning sun.
