When I?bought my trawler last August the very first thing I did was talk to Allstate because I have my home insurance through them. I was told they no longer write boat insurance in Florida so?I went elsewhere. Has their policy changed since then ? Or were you only able to get insurance through them because you went through an agent in Tennessee ?

Joe,
I have just signed up with Allstate for a VERY reasonable rate. I have a 1995
Island Packet sailboat and my premium is only $825. I cannot go to the
Bahamas with that policy, but since I'll be in FL all year, that will not be a
problem.
I did need a survey though, but already had one from last year and that could
be several dollars.
I got mine through my agent in Tennessee so that might be something to
consider as well, getting the insurance in a state other than FL.

Good luck,
