Skinwalker brings up some great points that I experienced last year
doing 50 solo locks.

1. It;s hard to go to the bathroom when you are cruising in a tight
waterway by yourself with no easy place to dock or anchor.

2. I found the logistics more work than I though it would be. I was
changing paper charts, plotting my location on them, watching the
chart plotter, driving the boat, watching for markers, watching for
traffic. No time to think about making lunch or yelling at the captain
for being stupid.

3, It's hard to get a second opinion -- when the charts are confusing.

4. There is no one to talk to unless you walk the dock and make
friends. At one point, I took a bottle of wine over to a couple of
trawlers across the locks and said, I haven't talked to anyone for
days, can we party?
