Not all houseboates are gas i/o powered. Mine has diesel inboards 315 HP Yanmars. As far as for sea keeping it will not take as much as a trawler. As far as construction, it is built with 5/16 marine grade aluminum, not the thin 3/16 that most are built out of. They are custom built, you can have them built as close to yacht standards as you are willing to pay for. I personly like the room and comfort. they provide when I'm cruising. I have cruised extensivly on them over the past 4 years at almost 5000 miles a year and never failed to get where I wanted to go.
