If you have a computer with internet you have to load Google Earth. The basic version is free but still very usefull. 
   
  My work computer has the professional version and with that you can connect a GPS and it will show you where you are on the screen. On the river system, I prefered that to the charts since it provided a lot more info and it never showed me cruising on the wrong side of the shore. (Where the resolution was good enough, it was fun to see if it had us in the correct slip in the marinas. Most of the time it was right on.)
   
  By adjusting the settings, it will show grociery stores resturants, etc. and you can measure how far away they are. You can also do searches for specific buisnesses or adresses.
