GL: $$$ on a simple repair

Several years ago we blew a turbo-charger.  The Volvo mechanic told me that
they only sold new ones (about $3000 if I remember)...wouldn't consider a
rebuild.  We took the old one off and took it to a place in St. Pete which
specializes in rebuilding turbos.  He told me that ours was not a Volvo part,
but rather an off the shelf turbo (Mercedes, maybe).  He ordered in a repair
kit and we were back up and running in two days for a couple hundred dollars.
