GL: $$$ on a simple repair

Bryan,
This is exactly why the more you can do the better off you are. Our
transmission shattered when docking. Bob removed it and took it to a diesel
TRUCK repair shop. Total cost $1500 including rental car. If we had the
marine repair take it out and then put it back in it was going to be more
than $7000. IF you can, change your own oil. Replace your own fuel pump.
Replace your own glow plugs. Bob did not know how to do much of this but
when we started but he read his manuals and had enough faith in himself to
do it. (I was always glad I didn't need surgery or he may have taken on the
challenge) Find AUTO and BIG truck parts that match up like glow plugs. Same
plug but Volvo Marine wanted $125 each and at Advanced Auto they were $12
each. Same EXACT plug for a Mercedes car. You tell me why!
