GL: C&D Canal to Atlantic City

The middle of the entrance to the Chesapeake City basin on the C & D canal,
at low tide, has silted in. We watched a sailboat with a 6 foot draft
simply stop when it wandered more than 20 or 30 feet from either the
bulkhead at the East end of the entrance, or the docks on the West side.

The Coast Guard anchorage at Cape May was calm since someone (most likely
the Coasties) is enforcing the no-wake zone there. We spent a pleasant
evening on the hook there last week and we were on the West side of the
station. We got Diesel for $4.45 per gallon at Miss Criss with Boat US
discount.

We anchored out in the basin on the North side of Atlantic City (favor the
port side on entry), and, other than jet skiers for about an hour, had a
pleasant evening there.

We no longer have much faith in the NOAA forecasts for this area around
Atlantic City since none of the predicted storms have arrived and the one
that did pass by was not predicted!! We are going inside to anchor out near
Manasquan on June 23rd, then head up to the Statue of Liberty anchorage the
next morning with (dare I say it?) West winds of 5 to 10 knots predicted and
seas less than 3 feet. We'll see.

The B & B will be going further up the Hudson and into the Erie after the
4th of July, still planning to end our journeys this year at Winter Harbor
in mid August.
