My senior moment error. A full tidal cycle is every 12 hours. The current 
flow reverses every 6 hours.

For a Looper, the best plan is to come early to pick out the best anchoring 
spot for your boat, then plan to stay overnight. Last year there were over 100 
boats in attendance and the exodus after the show was over made Times Square 
at rush hour look like a picnic. It's not that navigating the Hudson is 
particularly hard in this location. It's just that it is nighttime and there are a 
lot of idiots in high powered boats, who might have had a drink or two, speeding 
to get home.
