Traversed this reach today ( June 11). Tied to wall at Lock 40for the
night and will cross Lake Simcoe in the morning. It was a beautiful day
to travel, cool, breezy and lots
of sun.
A few buoys, pins to the locals, have been removed but they were clearly
redundant and did not make navigating
the canal difficult at all.

We planned to and did transit this section on a weekday to avoid the
local traffic and do recommend this as some
of the canal is very narrow and meeting oncoming traffic could be
difficult. ( We make it a point to NOT travel

There is grass in some areas but no worse than we have encountered in
other places.

This reach demands that you pay attention to your navigation and stay in
the middle of the channel. ( No eating lunch at the wheel.)

Our experience and as always YMMV
