Any chance we could change this discussion to Marina Prices?
On a days run, we might burn 5-10 gallons (less if we can sail). If this discussion helps me find fuel $0.30/gal cheaper it saves me $1.50 to $3.00 a day. While it is nice, it's not enough for me to get excited over. Not to mention we run on gas so the prices don't relate to me anyway.
More importantly, fuel prices change on almost a daily basis, so if you are coming thru a week later, it may no longer be the cheapest place to purchase fuel.
On the other hand with marinas, if we can push on another 5 miles and get to a marina that is $0.50/ft cheaper, that saves us $17 a day. Presumably the prices wouldn't change more than every few months, so the data provided would still be valuable if we arrive in a month or two.
we've been using the latest skipper bob marina book and probably 2/3 of the prices are out of date. The worst so far is the Two Way Fish Camp in Georgia. The price has gone from $0.75/ft to $1.50/ft. Most of the time, it is still useful in providing relative prices. But, we have to call ahead and verify when we are planning the next week or two.
Just a thought.
