GL: Bottom Paint at Demopolis

John:

I am surprised nobody has replied to your question (at least not on
the list site). I'll try to help.

While I have never had the Demopolis Yacht Basin do any work for me,
they have done work for many cruisers I know. This spring alone,
they did bottom work on three boats I know well, and did a very good
job. I have read and heard about folks who have had work done by
them and all were pleased -- good work, reasonable price, work well
unsupervised, etc. Pretty good fuel prices, by the way (they fuel
all the tows on the waterway).

I believe you can also do your own work in their yard. They can
accommodate your staying aboard while on the hard if necessary. They
welcome transients and livaboards.

Talk to Fred Hansard, the yard manager. He is very knowledgeable and
friendly. Contact him at 334-289-4374.

If you have never been there, don't expect too much from the city of
Demopolis. It is a small (pop. 7400) southern Alabama country town,
with friendly folks and a few stores.

Good luck. Fell free to ask me more if you think I can be of help.

Bill
