GL: South Carilina Tax

After reading the post in which Mr. Glenn Hardee of the Horry County Tax
Office explains South Carolina's boating tax, and explains that his county
is the lowest in SC, and says in several places that his numbers are 2008
numbers, it's a no brainer that I'm not going to be in SC long enough the
trigger this tax.  
 
OK.  I get it.  Choice is to keep the boat in SC for $1282 bucks a year for
a $100K vessel or keep my registration right here in Maryland, at $0 per
year.  Hmmm...
 
And on the same theme, we've also learned not to be in North Carolina on
January 1, which triggers the NC tax.
