Great Egg Inlet (Ocean City, NJ) (not to be confused with Little Egg Inlet) is a
very usable inlet. From GE Sea Buoy, head about North and pick up the red's and
green's, you will not see any depth less then 10 feet. Almost a straight shot to
the "Red and Green" at the end. It is IMPORTANT to keep in the middle of the
red's and green's. Lots of sand bars on either side. At the end of the Inlet a?red/green buoy, you will?
turn to port under a new 65 foot bridge (no height boards ???) which brings you
into the Ocean City / Somers Point bay area. Plenty of places to anchor.?"Active
Captain" displays this area very well with all the different marina information.
Stong wind against an out going tide can make life interesting to say the least.
But, other then that many many boats use this inlet all the time both small and large.
If running outside from Cape May, this makes a nice stop before continuing
either north on the NJ ICW ******(35 foot fixed bridge going north before
Atlantic City on the NJ ICW frrom Ocean City)*******. Cape May Sea Buoy to GE (Great Egg) sea buoy is
25.5 NM.
