Fortunately, I boat about 5 months of the year. Unfortunately, that does not
permit me much time for activities to manage.
Actually, I think the "Circle of Friends" is a wonderful thing, and I think
many members, and/or possibly Georgs as well, would be willing to take over
coordinating the operations of this group, if you would in fact, let them know
you are no longer able to operate it.

Tommy,
Actually the idea for 'Circle of Friends' began in Canada at Peterborough.
I was transiting the Trent-Severn a few years ago and met a boater who lived
there. He was very hospitable; he drove us around the area as a sight seeing
tour; took us to his home where we were offered use of his shower (the small
boat didn't have a shower); gave us a beer etc.
Afterward, when I was back home in Alabama, I wrote to thank him for all his
assistance. During the course of several e-mail exchanges we came up with the
idea of a website where one could get local information. I didn't know too
much about maintaining a website and didn't know how to go about it.
We eventually contacted Georgs Kalashnikov who owns the "Trawlers &
Trawlering" site and became a part of that site.
(Incidentally, I think Georgs lives in Whitby? near Toronto)
I maintained the sight for a few years but have let it slide into it's
present disfunctional state because of personal & health problems during the
last 2 or 3 years. At present I am unable to keep it updated. I would like to
find someone to take over managing the "Circle".
I am not sure how many of those listed are still active, but you will
probably be able to get help from any that you are able to contact.

If you should choose to travel the inland waterways and gulf coast, I should
be able to offer some help.

Is there also a Canadian version of this? I was planning on doing the
"Downeast Circle Route" next summer (2009) and it is always nice to have
"friends" along the way.

Also, I would like to contact "friends" to help me determine/find a
non-livaboard dock or storage facility for my boat, so I don't have to bring
it all the way back to Miami Beach in the fall. Do you see a problem with my
asking any/all of them?
Tommy
