I suspect that Dan will not find single-handing the Mariner
in lockage to be an impossibility. The side-decks are
quite roomy for a 28 footer and the rails are a nice and
safe 30 inches above the raised edges. I assume that
Carver put the spring cleats on the Mariner as they did
on the virtually identical 28' Voyager that I once owned.
On range matters, I also assume that the Mariner has twin
75 gallon tanks; the same as my old Voyager. At 1000 rpm
Dan should be able to attain 2 mpg, giving a maximum
range of about 300 miles. That may be 'pushing it' a bit
if some fuel stops are more than 200 miles if you use the
"1/3 out, 1/3 home, 1/3 reserve" rule.
