Elaine;
I'm glad you're still keeping an interest in the Lists.
You can read all about "Teddi Bear" on her builder's site at:
<http://www.johnsonyachts.co.nz/ben55.htm#>
There they give her owner, John Holzemer's contacts.
Some email quotes from Mr Holzemer about her building:
"Construction continues full speed. However about March the builder ran out of money and my wife and I took over the project...We hope to ship in December. We will be based in Sitka but will be in the Seattle area much of the year...If you are thinking of building a custom "one off" boat we need to talk...I wish the boat was done. Construction just seems to take longer than expected. We are launching the end of June and shipping the boat to Ensenada on August 8th."
Elaine, have your friend ask how the uphill trip from Ensenada to Seattle went; especially around Point Conception, and let us know. Also have your friend ask about building a "one off" in New Zealand, and let us know. I can only guess the horrors from reading these Lists for many years.
I've always liked Florida Bay Coasters because their layouts look so darn comfortable, but considered them houseboats suitable only for the Loop. I may have to change my opinion because of her uphill coastal delivery voyage. Name me another 55' boat that can carry a Cal King bed, small car, and are you ready for this, a small helicopter?
When one of these Lists had a thread discussing Elaine's sewing abilities, nobody asked her the most important question of all. Can she repair boat covers?
Take care,
Chris Byer
