There is a tremendous amount of stress on the windlass under load.  If you
mount it on the lid of the anchor locker you have a really good opportunity to
rip the darn thing off the boat.  A low profile windlass like the S/L Horizon
should fit under the locker cover.  Or else, mount it on the deck behind the
anchor well.  Oh yeah, don't forget to make up a snubber.
