Leon  & Sandy,   The Tennessee River is a delightful river to  begin your 
cruising experience, especially the upper end where you will be  starting.  We 
spent two years exploring the river before tearing ourselves  away to float 
south last November.  
    Your first stop could be Fort Loudon Marina.   Do not miss the side trip 
up the Little Tennessee River, also called Tellico  Lake where the Smoky 
Mountains are visible in the distance.   
    Fort Loudon Lock will be your first locking  experience.   Call the lock 
from the marina.  If there is a  long wait, you will be comfortably tied up at 
the marina.  We liked to  anchor at Paint Rock Creek.
    Dotted with islands, Watts Bar Lake is the most  beautiful lake on the 
river.   You should find a marina here, either  Blue Springs or Euchee Marina.
    Would you like to watch bald eagles from the  comfort of your houseboat?  
Then anchor next in Hiwassee River.    The anchorage is 2 miles up river near 
an eagle hacking area.
    Shady Grove Harbor is up Soddy Creek near Soddy  Daisy.   I just love 
these names!
    The 15 mile long Chickamauga Lake and lock lead you  to Chattanooga.   
Plan to spend a few days tied to the downtown  dock  to visit all the 
ChattaNEWga attractions. 
    Leaving Chattanooga you will be cruising the most  exciting part of the 
entire Tennessee River dubbed the Grand Canyon of  Tennessee.   End your cruise 
at either Hales Bar Marina or anchor at  Little Cedar Mountain.
    This amazing two week cruise will leave you begging  for more.....
