Elaine,
Why would you ever go to a non-marine Internet dictionary for a marine
industry word????
That lubberly directory has many problems, so to have some fun with it just
go through the glossary in Chapman's and enter some of the terms into
dictionary.com. Some of the other nautical words that Dictionary.com doesn't
know include:
sheerstrake
Intracoastal
flemish (verb)
chainplate
baggywrinkle
I think the manufacturers of the devices should certainly know how to spell
the name of their own products. They call it a cutless bearing - so that's
what I'll use too!
