GL: Venice Water Cop...was Prices in Boca

Funnily enough I was at a Dinner last night and a friend in Bermuda who was
telling me a tale of an encounter with this guy on two occasions. I always
figured Venice Cop was just trying to do his job even if a little
overzealous and perhaps there were two sides to every story but my friend
(who is not prone to embellishment) made this guy sound down right scary
even when faced with legitimate paperwork. I know many cruisers avoided the
stop because of him and Venice noticed. However I heard he has retired much
to the delight of the Venice Mayor I am sure.
Recently I drove by car from Naples to Clearwater with a Seasoned Yacht
Management guy and a broker, we made many stops along the way and they both
commented on how empty the Marinas seemed this year.

Venice in his time...or still is...
