GL: The wrong way

OK Loopers.... We are going to make a run in the Spring from Tarpon Springs ,Fl. 
  up the Tennesse River. I know this is the reverse way to run the rivers but we 
  don't have the time to run the loop the normal way and come in from the north.
   
  My concern is crossing the "Arm Pit" of Florida in April or May as we will be running 
  into currant and weather as opposed to running with it. I'm thinking the trip will be 
  slower and the weather windows won't be as long. 
   
  We are in a slow trawler (1978 Mainship I).
   
  My question is: Would April or May be the best time to head "Up Stream"  on 
  the loop
