I solved my davit problem with chrome tubes like St. Croix but a generic
version from Defender.  I added 1/4" wire rope going to a hand crank (like a
boat trailer), one crank on each davit.  I did not want to fuss with 12v dc
or 120v ac electric units.  My Avon and Yamaha weigh about 220 lbs. I keep
the hand crank systems coated with a water repellent spray lube to inhibit
rust.
