Speaking of the water quality in Lake Champlain. We plan to travel that way
this summer and will do our best to be responsible. However, since we have
never been to the lake we understand that there are numerous farms and farm
animals which may very well contribute to the pollutants in the lake. What
are the politicians doing about such pollution? Or are farmers and cows
exempt from the rather strict rules boaters must follow?

In response to Charles, Yes, we in Vermont /are /extremely concerned
about our environment and with good reason. It has to start somewhere
and it might as well be here. I watched the Cuyahoga River burn in the
early 70's and have heard of and seen many waterways in as bad shape in
the Midwest and the South. We Vermonters would rather not let our water
get like that. We may be a small state but we care in a big way! Sam
