Bill responds:

That is a very pleasant part of Florida, assuming reasonable weather 
an a good eye to the tides.  You should be just fine going in to 
Everglades City via Indian Key Pass.  If you don't want to pay for 
moorage for the evening, check out the left fork into Russell Pass at 
flashing green marker "7" for a deep anchorage.  Currents around the 
various islands can be strong, so put out plenty of scope if you 
anchor.  Tides in this part of SE Florida can have a surprising range 
during spring tides.
