GL: re Boating with Washer and Dryer

The non-vented dryers have a terrible reputation. There is a substantial
improvement with the same units when the model is vented (Splendide for
example).
Space, power, and money drive the compromise as to whether to put in a 220
volt unit or separate washer dryers. 220 volt dryers are better if you have
the power - dockside or large generator. Separates are better if you can
devote the real estate. In your case adding 220 shore power (as well as
your generator) could be expensive.
We have lived quite well with a 110v Splendide vented unit. The loads are
small, the dry time is long, 50 minutes, but it takes up little space. This
unit can be run on an inverter in the wash cycle. We have an 8 kw generator
and are able to run the dryer, our main battery charger and the hot water
heater plus the rest of the normal house AC at anchor. This fully loads our
generator and a 220 volt dryer could not be run without shutting off either
the charger or water heater. All things are a compromise.
Our Krogen 42 came with a stackable 110v washer dryer. I had these pulled
out when I realized it required 2 men to move the unit from its space in
order to service it. The extra space now provides a cabinet for cleaning
supplies.
