GL: Fuel appreciation

Likewise, I gambled on the commodities market of diesel fuel last year
when I filled up at $2.60/gallon at Solomons MD (Trawlerfest) and then
topped off at my home dock at $2.84 at the end of the season. I'm
particularly happy about this because I am a terrible gambler and
usually lose !
In the fall there was considerable discussion on this board as to
whether it was better or worse to store the boat on the hard with full
tanks or leave them low.

Well look at the bright side... If you've got big tanks on your trawler,
your fuel inventory appreciates in value. Heck, my 400 gallons is worth
about $1 more a gallon now than when I bought it! :-) And I'm not even
raising the selling price of the boat to compensate... what a deal.
