Hello all North Bound travelers
Palmetto Moon, North bound, just passed through today (Sat 4-19) two well
known bad areas in NC.
1- Shallotte Inlet, MM 330, Starting at R 82 stay in mid channel 6' at
mid-tide,
any thing but center gets you in VERY skinny H2O
2- Lockwood's Folly, MM 322.7, at R 48A you MUST favor the red side, well not
favor, be on the reds.
One hour before low we saw 4' and a grounded sailboat.
This hugging is just for the inlet portion only, where you can see the
inlet on your Stbd. side.
When you reach G 41 move back to center of the channel until you pass G
45.
Another boat was aground that was continuing to hug the reds.
Even the sportfish and gofast boats were going at idle speed.
As always you should be the master and determine the best course for your
vessel.
This was just my experience today
YMMV
