What was the cost of diesel at New River Marina? I think you have to add
sales tax to their per gallon price.
The fellow with the Grand Banks you mention who is staying in FLA could
experience far greater costs with one single hurricane than the cost to move
the boat north each season. People quickly forget that ANY hurricane can
develop into a CAT 5 in a matter of a few days, in which case there is
literally no defense for your boat.
Moving north away from hurricane probability is prudent to preserve the
total cost of ownership in the boat whereas fuel, as Phil Little aptly
pointed out, is still a small part of boat ownership costs.
