And other than the price of the crude, the
highest proportion of your gasoline or Diesel
fuel price is that which goes to government
in the form of taxes; many times any profit
derived from any level in the production chain
from oilfield to the pump!!!!
Put the real blame where it belongs! At least
in the USA, the portion that government adds
is only in the vicinity of 30% of the total cost
at the pump instead of as much as 90% in
some countries!
As Pogo said, "We have met the enemy and
he is us!" Put government on a strict diet!!

I believe in the 90's regulations were relaxed on the futures market
traders, allowing them to trade on partial credits, which has led us
to this point. The traders are simply bidding the prices up in a
gambling game on borrowed funds. It will crash in time, just as the
stocks did in the dot.com bubble. Happy cruising!

problems often begins with the question - who benefits? In this
case, a disproportionally small number of investors benefits.
So yes, fuel costs will change the way in which I intend to use my
boat, but it will also affect the proportion of money going to food
on the table and circumscribe where I go in my car. Heck, it will
even affect the price of my dock lines. Further, it will affect
*where* I intend to put my sock.
And to think, I used to enjoy Kukla, Fran, and Ollie.

I do not appreciate the comment that the oil industry is
"stealing" the joy of cruising. I m getting tired of the
excessive commentary on this & the T & T list. I'm
considering dropping out after 8+ years. Put a sock
in it.
